So I must begin this post by telling you that my husband refuses to ask for or complain about almost anything when he is gone. He lives with the austerity of a silent Buddhist monk. For those of you who have not heard the story, one night Christopher gave himself a third degree burn and drove himself to Target to buy things to clean and sanitize it. On the way, he stopped at Lowe's to buy picture hangers that I had been nagging him for. He came home, shaved the wound and dressed it. To further my theory that he is evolutionarily advanced, he also healed in an eerily short amount of time, without the wound becoming infected and leaving just a souvenir scar in its place.
So for Christopher to ask for something is kind of a big deal. I usually feel very helpless when he is gone, sending him packages full of random things just hoping I have correctly anticipated his needs. After an entire winter deployment once, he informed me that I had neglected to send him a sweatshirt I had promised and so he froze for two months. This is a lot of pressure!
Earlier today on the phone, he began talking about a problem they are experiencing where he is stationed - a shortage of peanut butter cookies!!! You can't even imagine how excited I was. I practically hung up on him as soon as the words were out of his mouth so that I could run to my computer and begin comparing, contrasting and reading reviews of peanut butter cookies. I chose three kinds, spent the night baking and I am sending the packages off tomorrow!
I plan to continue the experimenting. He mentioned something about Mrs Fields peanut butter cookies with some kind of chips in them. Does anyone have any wonderful peanut butter cookie recipes they would like to share?
I am feeling a little bit sick from sampling cookies and drinking milk (*something I have not done since I was pregnant!) to wash them down so I am off to bed.
